A Great Tip to Help Lose Weight: Get More Sleep
Hot off the presses from the Chicago Tribune, getting adequate sleep helps lose weight. This makes a lot of sense because if your body has been deprived of sleep, it’s natural for it to want to replace that source of energy with another source (food). With a healthy amount of sleep, you’ll have less of a desire to feed your body and decrease the number of calories consumed. I like it. I like it a lot.
Last night I only had 5 and a 1/2 hours of sleep so tonight I want to make sure and get 9 strong hours to wake up refreshed and replenished.
Oh yeah, and this morning I did get up and exercise early with a friend. I was on the treadmill for 26 minutes, running and jogging for a good pace (well at least a good pace for me). Every time I run, I know it’s doing a world of good for me in my quest for weight loss so I love it. I’ll be hitting the cardio heavy again tomorrow.
For my lunch and snack today I’ve made myself pita sandwiches. I get a whole grain peta pouch and stuff it with 1 (thinness level) sliced oven roasted turkey and 1 sliced baby swiss cheese (both from Boar’s Head) and then I add a bunch of cut up avocado pieces and toss those in. It’s a light but filling meal.
Keep up the good work everyone out there trying to lose weight.

4 Weight Loss Tips
To understand how to lose weight you need to take into account the following 4 weight loss tips.
1. First, start with the basics. In order to lose weight you have to create a deficit of 3000 calories. This actually means that when the calories you burn are 3000 more than the calories you consume you will lose one pound. If you appreciate this simple rule then everything else is a matter of finding the right ways to create the deficit.
2. The only way to burn more calories than you do now and thus expand the calorie deficit is though exercise and physical activity. If you exercise more then you will help your body burn more calories. Unfortunately not all people like exercise so you have to find other ways to become active. Some good examples are to start walking, running, do a sport that requires movement or start doing manual work i.e. gardening, washing your car, cleaning your house etc.
3. The other part of the weight loss equation, consume less calories can be met by a careful diet. This does not mean excluding any food types from your diet but being selective on what foods you eat from each food group. For example you can start by skipping full fat foods (red meat, full fat dairy products) and replacing them with low fat foods, lots of fruits and fresh vegetables, fish, tuna and low fat dairy products. This action alone will save you enough calories to start the process. For better results you can keep track of your current eating habits, measure the number of calories you consume and calculate how much calories you can save by making alterations to the items you eat.
4. Finally, do not forget that drinks also have calories. This includes soft drinks and coffees. As part of your new diet you must remove sugar soft drinks from your diet and replace them with diet or light drinks and drink coffee with no milk or sugar. The only drink that you can consume with out feat is water which has 0 calories and has a lot to offer to your health and weight loss.
By following the above 4 weight loss tips you will be able to enjoy a healthier life and also you will start losing weight. Remember that weight loss takes time and you need to be patient throughout the process. There may be times you will get bored and wish to quit but you have to stick to your goals until you achieve your targets.
