2011 Weight Loss New Year’s Resolutions, Yes It’s That Time Again for Losing Weight
Now is the time that droves of people will make their 2011 weight loss resolutions in the form of new diets and cutting back on fast food. While I commend a 2011 initiative to lose weight, I know from first hand that tying your getting in shape to the start of a new year is fool’s gold. Don’t tie your health to a new year. Tie your health to your lifestyle.
What I now understand is that weight loss and getting in shape is a result of a healthier lifestyle – not a fad diet or new weight loss drug pills. So while it’s good to have a 2011 weight loss plan, I recommend you just have a January weight loss program and diet. Just try to make healthy changes to your life for the next 29 days.
Start simple, like I did:
I made 2 changes two my diet. I made exercise mandatory (30 minutes) for 5 days a week. And I took 3 hours of TV out of my life.
Those 3 changes have helped me to lose 25 lbs recently and if you’re struggling to lose weight they can help you too.
What changes specifically did I make to my diet?
One is I talk out all white bread or anything that could resemble white bread (rice, bread, tortillas, chips, cereal, etc.) All that stuff really doughs you up.
The other change is I stopped drinking calories.
Those two changes have really helped me lose weight, have more energy, and get leaner.
For my exercises, I walk, I try to run (it’s hard for me to physically run), and I have lift weights so I can build muscle to help burn more fat.
With the 3 hours less of TV, I try to be productive and active. For example, I wash and iron my clothes. I clean the house. I visit my friends. All positive stuff.
I urge you to make positive changes in your life and not just get stuck in a 2011 New Years Resolution weight loss rut!
I no longer make long term goals because they’re too far in the future. I just make month long weight loss goals and continue on a month to month basis. I’ve found this to be far more effective. Think about it this way, what are you more likely to stick to: lose 80 lbs in a year or lose 7 lbs in a month? Did you know these two are about the same? Actually 7lbs a month will have you losing 84 lbs in a year.
My goal for January 2011 is to lose 10 lbs. What is your goal?
